Illustrator’s brush tool is pressure sensitive and thus using a tablet here is very helpful. (keep a light touch, someone should be able to reach over your shoulder and pluck it from your hand keep your wrist straight and keep weight off of it move your whole arm around from the shoulder, do fine detail with your fingers.) You can give yourself serious RSI with a stylus too, but one of the things you get taught very quickly once you enter the animation industry is how to use a pencil for a very long time with minimal damage. My index finger starts aching very quickly if I try to use one. I also cannot use a mouse any more, after an insane amount of double-clicking when I was doing Flash work in the '00s.
Drawing paths with the pen tool feels immensely more fluid and organic to me with a tablet than a mouse. When I need to do logos or whatever I will also do it with the tablet. Mostly with the Pencil tool - hit return while it's selected to find its settings its defaults render it nigh-useless IMHO.
I do my work entirely in Illustrator, with a Wacom tablet.
I am a professional artist who largely draws comics.
